Support us
Hundreds of hours of footage, interviews, songs and archival material have already been gathered. The challenge is no longer to begin the project, but to turn this extensive archive into six completed films.
We are seeking your help to complete Jāt, the first film, and lay the foundations for the entire series.
Who are we
L’Atelier Bhimraya is the non-profit home of India Bhimraya. It was created to give lasting form to a project shaped by more than twenty years of research, filming, archives and long-term relationships in India.
A team built over time
India Bhimraya has grown through long-term collaborations in research, fieldwork, image, sound and editing. Some members have accompanied the project for many years; others joined as the archive gradually became a six-film series.

A project that grew into a collective endeavour
India Bhimraya grew for many years through the work, relationships and personal resources of those who initiated it. Over time, it became something broader: a collective project bringing together cinema, research, fieldwork, music, archives, languages, visual creation and cartography.
L’Atelier Bhimraya was created to give this constellation a shared and lasting structure.
Supporting the association means enabling the project to enter a new stage: completing the six films, fairly remunerating those contributing to their making, preserving an archive built over more than twenty years, and bringing India Bhimraya to wider audiences.
